How to watch the NFL in Canada without cable in 2026

Football is the easiest major sport to follow in Canada without cable: one rights holder, no regional blackouts, and the US streaming exclusives still land on Canadian channels. Here is how it works.

How to watch the NFL in Canada without cable in 2026 (Wave IPTV Canada guide)

The short answer

  • The 2026 regular season runs from September 9, 2026 to January 10, 2027.
  • Bell Media holds the Canadian rights: TSN, CTV, CTV2 in English and RDS in French.
  • US streaming exclusives (Thursday nights, holiday games) still air on Canadian channels.
  • DAZN is the Canadian home of NFL Game Pass for every game, including out-of-market ones.
  • Super Bowl LXI: Sunday, February 14, 2027, on TSN, CTV and RDS.

Which channel is the NFL game on?

WindowUsual kickoff (ET)Where in Canada
Sunday early games1:00 p.m.TSN feeds, CTV on selected games
Sunday late games4:05 or 4:25 p.m.TSN feeds, CTV on selected games
Sunday Night Football8:20 p.m.TSN and CTV
Thursday Night Football8:15 p.m.TSN, CTV or CTV2
Monday Night Football8:15 p.m.TSN and CTV2
International morning games9:30 a.m.TSN, per weekly schedule

TSN 1 to 5 are regional feeds. A game on TSN4 in Toronto may be on TSN1 in Vancouver, so a lineup with all five never misses.

Why NFL viewing in Canada is simpler than hockey

There is no Canadian NFL team, so there is no local territory to protect and no regional blackouts on Canadian NFL broadcasts. A game on TSN is the same game in St. John's and in Victoria. And because Bell holds all the Canadian rights, games that stream exclusively on Prime Video or Netflix in the United States still air on a Canadian channel here.

Simultaneous substitution, explained

When a US network and a Canadian channel show the same game at the same time, Canadian TV providers replace the US feed with the Canadian one, including the ads. That is why you see Canadian commercials on the US channel. The Super Bowl is the famous exception, where the CRTC's rules have changed over the years.

What it costs to follow the season

The out-of-market question

Canadian TV picks a handful of games for each Sunday window. If your team rarely gets picked, DAZN's Game Pass is the official way to see every game. A channel lineup, including ours, shows what Canadian and US broadcast channels are airing.

Watching the NFL in French on RDS

RDS carries games in every window, with its own crew, and all the playoffs and the Super Bowl. Included in every Wave IPTV plan.

How to watch without cable, step by step

  1. Pick your device and follow its setup guide.
  2. Favourite TSN 1 to 5, CTV and RDS.
  3. For two games at once, consider a two-screen plan or a multi-view app.
  4. Test on a Sunday afternoon during the free trial.

Bell's channels and DAZN are clearly legal routes. For IPTV services, see our legal explainer.

A Canadian NFL Sunday, hour by hour

4:05 / 4:25 p.m.Late games1:05 / 1:25 p.m.

Western Canadians get the best of it: the whole Sunday slate finishes by early evening. In Atlantic Canada and Newfoundland, Sunday Night Football runs late. Catch-up, on channels that support it, helps with international morning games and late finishes.

Setting up for football season

  1. Add TSN 1 to 5, CTV, CTV2 and RDS to a "Football" favourites group.
  2. On Sunday morning, open the guide on that group to see which feed carries which game.
  3. Set your device to your own time zone so kickoff times are right.
  4. Use ethernet on the main TV for Sunday afternoons.
  5. If you also follow the CFL, add the CFL channels to the same group; the seasons overlap from September to November.

Two screens for football Sundays

With early games overlapping, many fans want two games at once: one on the main TV, another in the basement or on a tablet. Each counts as a screen on your plan, and each HD stream needs about 10 Mbps. Some players offer multi-view, showing two games on one screen. Our multiple TVs guide explains how screens work.

The CFL and the NFL together

From September to November, Canadian football fans get both leagues. The CFL plays mostly on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with Labour Day and Thanksgiving classics, while the NFL owns Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays. Both air on TSN and RDS, so one lineup covers both. The Grey Cup in November and the Super Bowl in February bookend the Canadian football calendar. See the CFL and Grey Cup guide.

Super Bowl night

  • Test early: check the channel the day before.
  • Start early: demand peaks at kickoff and halftime.
  • Ethernet: the most important night of the year to use a cable.
  • Guests: ask them to stay off the Wi-Fi for big downloads.
