How to set up IPTV on BuzzTV X5, XRS and BuzzTV Stick

BuzzTV boxes are popular in Canada because they arrive ready for IPTV, with a dedicated player, a remote with live TV buttons and enough power for 4K. You simply add your account and start watching. Keep your Wave IPTV email close by.

How to set up IPTV on BuzzTV X5, XRS and BuzzTV Stick (IPTV Canada setup guide)

Before you start

  1. Your Wave IPTV email: username, password, server URL and the M3U link.
  2. The box connected to the internet, by ethernet if you can.
  3. Latest firmware: open Settings → System → Update or the BuzzTV updater app.
  1. Open the BuzzTV player

From the home screen open the built-in IPTV player (the main Live TV or BuzzTV tile). On first launch it asks you to add a provider or playlist.

  2. Add a new account

Choose Add account or Add playlist and select Xtream Codes as the type. Enter a name, then the server URL, username and password from our email. If the player only offers M3U, paste the M3U link instead.

  3. Download the channels and guide

Save the account and let the player fetch the lineup and the TV guide. On a fresh box this can take a couple of minutes. When it is done, press the Guide button on the remote.

  4. Optional: install TiviMate

BuzzTV boxes run Android, so you can also install TiviMate from the store and sign in with the same Xtream details. Some people prefer its guide; others stick with BuzzTV's player. Use whichever you like; both work with Wave IPTV.

Get the most from a BuzzTV remote

The BuzzTV remote has programmable buttons. Map one to your most-watched channel and another to the guide, and the box behaves like a cable receiver for anyone in the house. Set the player to open on Live TV at startup so nobody has to navigate a menu to get to the news.

Ethernet and 4K

BuzzTV boxes can play 4K channels, but 4K needs a steady connection of around 50 Mbps. Plug in the ethernet cable if the router is anywhere near the TV; it is the most reliable way to keep a 4K hockey game sharp through the third period.

If something goes wrong on BuzzTV

These cover the problems people actually run into on this device. If yours is not here, send us the exact wording of the error and a photo of the screen.

The player says "account expired" right after setup

Usually the wrong server URL or a typo in the username. Check the details against our email. If they are right, send us your username and we will check the account status.

The guide is missing for some channels

Use the Xtream login rather than M3U, refresh the EPG from the player's settings, and give it a few minutes. Not every international channel publishes guide data.

Can I use BuzzTV's player and TiviMate at the same time?

They can both be installed, but each one playing counts as a screen. On a one-screen plan, close one before opening the other.

My BuzzTV stick is slow with large lists

Hide the channel groups you never watch. A smaller list loads faster and uses less memory on the stick.

Guides for other devices

One IPTV subscription works on all of them. Only the app changes.
