How to set up IPTV on a VIDAA Smart TV (Hisense and Toshiba)

Many Hisense and Toshiba TVs sold in Canada run VIDAA, a lightweight system with a small app store. IPTV works on it, but the choice of players is narrower than on Android or Fire TV, so this guide shows you what to look for and the shortcut if your model is limited. Have your Wave IPTV email open.

How to set up IPTV on a VIDAA Smart TV (Hisense and Toshiba) (IPTV Canada setup guide)

Before you start

  1. Your Wave IPTV email with the username, password, server URL and M3U link.
  2. Confirm the TV runs VIDAA: the home screen has a row of app tiles along the bottom and the store is called VIDAA Store or App Store. Hisense TVs that say "Google TV" or "Android TV" should follow the Android TV guide instead.
  3. Update the TV: Settings → Support → System Update.
  1. Open the VIDAA app store

Press the Home button and select Apps or the VIDAA Store tile.

  2. Look for an IPTV player

Search the store for IPTV. Depending on your firmware you will see players such as IBO Player Pro, Hot IPTV or other Xtream-compatible apps. Pick one that mentions Xtream Codes or M3U in its description and install it. Some charge a small one-time activation fee to their developer after a trial.

  3. Write down the device code

Open the player. Note the MAC address and any device key shown on its first screen; photograph it with your phone.

  4. Add your Wave IPTV account

Choose the Xtream Codes login if the app has one and type your server URL, username and password. If the app instead asks you to upload a playlist on its website, open that site on your phone, enter the MAC address and key, and paste the M3U link from our email.

  5. Restart and load the lineup

Close the app, reopen it and let the channel list download. Play a channel to confirm everything is working.

  6. Set favourites and the time zone

Mark your everyday channels as favourites and make sure the app's time zone matches your province so the guide lines up with the clock.

If your VIDAA store has no IPTV player

Older or entry-level VIDAA models sometimes show no suitable app at all. Do not waste an evening on workarounds: a Fire TV Stick or a Google TV device in a spare HDMI port costs less than a month of cable and gives you the full choice of players. Set it up with the Fire TV guide and use the TV remote's input button to switch between them.

Picture settings worth changing

VIDAA TVs often ship with motion smoothing switched on, which gives sport a strange "soap opera" look and can add input delay. Look for Motion Enhancement or Smooth Motion in the picture settings and try it on Low or Off.

If something goes wrong on VIDAA Smart TV

These cover the problems people actually run into on this device. If yours is not here, send us the exact wording of the error and a photo of the screen.

The app installs but will not accept my login

Check the server URL carefully, including http:// and any port number, and the password's capital letters. If you used the website method, confirm the MAC address matches the TV exactly.

Channels freeze after a few minutes

VIDAA TVs often have modest Wi-Fi. Try an ethernet cable or move the router closer. If only one channel freezes, send us its name.

My Hisense says Google TV, not VIDAA

Then it runs Android-based Google TV, which has the full Play Store. Follow the Android TV guide.

Does a small activation fee for the app mean extra cost from Wave?

No. Any fee charged by a player app goes to its developer. Your Wave IPTV price covers the service itself, nothing else is added.

Guides for other devices

One IPTV subscription works on all of them. Only the app changes.
