Who we are and what this covers
This policy explains what personal information Wave IPTV collects when you visit waveiptv.ca or use our service, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. It is written to meet Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for residents of Quebec, the province's private-sector privacy law as amended by Law 25.
Our privacy contact is contact@waveiptv.ca.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — your name and email address, and your phone or WhatsApp number if you contact us that way.
- Support messages — what you write to us, including any screenshots you attach.
- Payment information — handled by our payment processor. We do not see or store your full card number. For Interac e-Transfer we see the sender details the transfer carries.
Information collected automatically
- Service logs — the IP address a stream connects from, the device and player app used, connection times and the channels requested. This is how streaming works; it is also how we diagnose faults and detect credential sharing.
- Website analytics — pages visited, approximate location from IP, browser and device type, and the site that referred you.
Why we collect it
- To create and run your subscription and issue your credentials.
- To take payment and to process refunds.
- To answer your support messages.
- To diagnose faults and keep the service stable.
- To enforce our terms of use — in particular concurrent-stream limits and credential sharing.
- To meet legal obligations, including retaining records of copyright notices where required.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell or share what you watch.
Consent
We rely on your consent, which you give by subscribing and using the service. Where the purpose is not obvious we will ask. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual limits — though withdrawing consent for information we need to operate your account means we can no longer provide the service.
We do not send marketing email unless you have asked for it, and every marketing message carries an unsubscribe link, as Canada's anti-spam legislation requires.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with third parties who need it to run the service:
- Payment processors, to take payment and issue refunds.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers, who store data on our behalf.
- Support tools, including the messaging platforms we use to answer you.
- Professional advisers, where necessary.
- Law enforcement or a regulator, where we are legally required to, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
Where a reseller sold you your subscription, they hold their own record of you as their customer and are responsible for it under their own privacy practices.
Where your information is stored
Personal information is stored and processed in [ COUNTRIES ]. Where information is transferred outside Canada it is subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be accessible to its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities.
How long we keep it
- Account details — for as long as your subscription is active and for [ NUMBER ] months afterwards, so we can restore it if you come back and settle any billing questions.
- Payment records — for the period required by tax and accounting rules.
- Service logs — [ NUMBER ] days.
- Support messages — [ NUMBER ] months.
- Copyright notices — for the period required under the Copyright Act.
When information is no longer needed we delete it or render it anonymous.
How we protect it
We use encryption in transit, access controls limiting who can see account data, and credentials that can be reissued if compromised. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise — but we do not ask for information we don't need, which is the most effective protection available.
We will never ask you for your password. Anyone who does is not us.
Your rights
You may ask us to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct anything inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete it, where we are not required to keep it.
- Withdraw consent, subject to the limits described above.
Write to contact@waveiptv.ca. We respond within 30 days, as PIPEDA requires. We may ask you to confirm your identity first — usually by writing from the email address on the account.
If you live in Quebec
Quebec's Law 25 gives you additional rights, including the right to receive your personal information in a structured, commonly used technological format (portability), and the right to ask that information be de-indexed in certain circumstances. Requests go to the same address.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies to keep the site working and to understand how it is used. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be switched off. Analytics cookies are optional.
You can clear or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site working.
Children
Our service is sold to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Data breaches
If a breach of security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm, we will report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and notify affected individuals as soon as feasible, as PIPEDA requires. We keep records of breaches whether or not they are reportable.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, write to us first and we will investigate. If you remain unsatisfied you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca. Residents of Quebec may complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page. Material changes will be posted here with a revised date, and where required we will ask for your consent again. The date at the top shows the current version.
