The short version
- "Invalid username or password" almost always means a typing mistake. Copy and paste, and check capitals.
- "Account expired" means the plan has ended, or the app is still holding an old trial login.
- "Too many connections" means more devices are playing than your plan allows right now.
- "Cannot connect" or "server error" with correct details usually points to the server URL, your network or a blocked port.
Login errors are frustrating because they happen at the worst moment: the game is about to start and the app refuses to open. The good news is that IPTV apps are fairly literal. Each message points to a specific cause, and once you know which one you are looking at, the fix usually takes a minute.
What each login error means
| Message on screen | What it usually means | First thing to try |
|---|---|---|
| Invalid username or password | A character is wrong in one of the fields | Copy and paste from the email |
| Account expired | The plan or trial has ended | Check the end date; renew or update the login |
| Too many connections / max connections reached | More devices playing than your screen count | Close the app on other devices |
| Account disabled / banned | The account was paused on our side | Message us with your username |
| Cannot connect / network error | Wrong server URL, no internet, or a blocked port | Check the URL and test another network |
| Device not activated (smart TV apps) | The player app itself needs its own activation | Activate the app on its website |
How to fix "invalid username or password"
This is the most common message by far, and it is nearly always a small typing issue. On a TV remote, it is very easy to make one.
- Check capitals. Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive. Fire TV and Android keyboards often capitalise the first letter automatically, turning
wave123intoWave123. - Check the server URL. It needs
http://at the start and, if our email shows one, the port number after a colon, for example:8080. Leaving the port off is the second most common mistake. - Watch for invisible spaces. If you copied the details from an email on your phone, a space can sneak onto the end. Delete and retype the last character of each field.
- Use copy and paste where you can. On a computer or phone, paste straight from the email. On a TV, some apps let you enter details from your phone through a website or QR code.
Why does my IPTV say "account expired"?
Three reasons, in order of likelihood:
- The plan really has ended. Check the date in your order email. Plans do not renew automatically, so when the term runs out the account stops until you renew.
- The app is still using your trial login. If you started with a free trial and then bought a plan, you may have received new details. Edit the profile in the app with the paid login.
- The renewal has not been applied yet. If you just renewed, give it a few minutes after payment lands, then restart the app. Still expired? Message us your username.
What does "too many connections" mean?
Every Wave IPTV plan allows a set number of screens to play at the same time, from 1 to 5. A screen is counted when a stream is actually playing, not when the app is installed. So you can have the app on six devices with a one-screen plan; you just cannot play on two of them at once.
When you see this message:
- Think about who else is watching. A teenager's phone in the next room counts.
- Close the app properly on devices nobody is using. Pressing Home on a Fire Stick can leave the stream running in the background.
- Wait a minute or two. Some devices hold the connection open briefly after you stop.
- Try again.
If this happens often, your household probably needs more screens. Our guide to IPTV on several TVs helps you work out how many, and upgrading mid-plan is simple; just ask.
Never share your login outside your household. Shared logins are the most common cause of "too many connections", and of accounts being paused.
What if my account is disabled or suspended?
This is rare and is never something an app setting can fix. It usually means the account was paused on our side, most often because the same login was playing from several different places at once. Message us with your username (never your password) and we will explain what happened and get you back up and running.
"Cannot connect" when the login is right
If your username and password are correct but the app cannot reach the server at all, the problem is the path, not the account:
- Server URL: one wrong character, a missing port or
httpsinstead ofhttpwill stop the connection. - Your internet: can the same device open YouTube right now?
- A blocked network: office, campus, hotel and some public networks block the ports IPTV uses. Try your phone's hotspot as a test.
- A VPN or DNS filter: some security apps and router filters block streaming servers. Turn them off briefly to test. More in do you need a VPN?
Smart TV apps with a device key are a separate step
Samsung, LG and VIDAA players such as IBO Player Pro often have their own activation, tied to your TV's MAC address. If the app says "device not activated" or "trial expired", that is the app's licence, not your Wave IPTV account. The fix is on the app developer's website. Our Samsung and LG guides explain the difference.
What to send us if it still will not work
Send a WhatsApp message or email with:
- Your username (never the password).
- The device and app you are using.
- A photo of the error exactly as it appears.
- Whether it works on another device.
With those four things we can usually tell you the fix in one reply.
Three common situations, and what fixed each one
- A Fire TV in Kitchener: "invalid login" every time. The keyboard had capitalised the first letter of the password. Fixed in ten seconds.
- A Samsung TV in Laval: "expired" two days after buying a yearly plan. The IBO Player trial had ended, not the Wave plan. Activating the app fixed it.
- A family in Surrey: "too many connections" every Sunday afternoon. Three people were watching football on a two-screen plan. They moved to three screens.
Login trouble is almost always quick to solve. If you are still deciding on a service, every plan comes with the same help; see our plans or start with the free trial.
Login errors on each device, step by step
The messages mean the same thing everywhere, but where you go to fix them differs. Find your device below.
Fire TV Stick with IPTV Smarters or TiviMate
- Open the player and go to the profile or playlist list.
- Select your profile and choose Edit (Smarters) or open Settings → Playlists (TiviMate).
- Re-enter the password slowly. Watch for the on-screen keyboard capitalising the first letter.
- Check the server URL starts with
http://and includes the port, for example:8080, if our email shows one. - Save and reload the playlist.
- If it still fails, restart the Fire Stick: hold Select and Play for five seconds.
Google TV, Android TV and NVIDIA SHIELD
- Open the player's account or playlist settings and edit the Xtream login.
- Use the Google TV app on your phone as a remote keyboard if typing is slow.
- If the player says "cannot connect", open the TV's network settings and confirm it is online.
- Clear the app's cache in Settings → Apps → [player] → Clear cache, then open it again.
Samsung, LG and VIDAA televisions
- Note whether the error mentions your account or the device / activation. Device messages relate to the player app's own licence, not your Wave IPTV account.
- For account errors, re-enter the Xtream login in the app, or re-upload the playlist on the app's website.
- Confirm the MAC address you entered on the app's website matches the one on the TV screen exactly. One wrong character sends your playlist to someone else's TV.
- Restart the TV fully. On Samsung, hold the power button until the logo appears; on LG, turn off Quick Start+ first.
Apple TV, iPhone and iPad
- Open the player's settings and edit the user or playlist.
- On iPhone, paste the password directly from our email to avoid typing mistakes.
- If the app was offloaded by iOS to save space, reinstalling it may need the login again.
Formuler (MyTVOnline) and BuzzTV
- Open the connection or portal list and edit your Wave connection.
- Check the connection type is Xtream Codes, not a MAC portal, unless we set up a portal for you.
- If the box says "authorization failed" with a MAC portal, the box's MAC must be registered on our side; switch to Xtream or message us.
Windows and Mac
- In IPTV Smarters, edit the user; in VLC, re-paste the full M3U link.
- Firewalls and antivirus web shields sometimes block streaming ports. Allow the player through, or test briefly with the shield off.
Understanding screens and connections in detail
The "too many connections" message is the one that confuses people most, because the rules are invisible. Here is exactly how it works.
- A screen is counted when a stream is playing, not when the app is open on the menu and not when it is installed.
- Watching catch-up or an on-demand film counts the same as a live channel.
- Multi-view counts each tile. Four games on one screen use four screens.
- Recording while watching counts twice.
- A stream can linger for a minute or two after you press Home or turn off the TV, especially on Fire Sticks and some smart TVs. Exit the app properly, or wait briefly before starting on another device.
- Two people on the same channel in different rooms still use two screens.
| What is happening at home | Screens in use |
|---|---|
| One TV playing hockey | 1 |
| Hockey in the living room and cartoons on a tablet | 2 |
| Multi-view of two games on one TV | 2 |
| A film on the bedroom TV, the news on a phone, a game in the basement | 3 |
| App open on the menu, nothing playing | 0 |
If you often hit the limit, the cheapest fix is a plan with one more screen; it costs much less than a second subscription. See pricing by screen count.
Keeping your login safe
Most "too many connections" and "account disabled" problems we see come from a login that has travelled further than the owner intended. A few habits prevent almost all of them:
- Do not share your login outside your home. Every device that plays uses one of your screens, and logins shared widely tend to be paused.
- Do not post your M3U link anywhere. It contains your username and password in plain text.
- Only enter your login in the official player apps and, for smart TV apps, their official websites.
- Ask us to reset your password if you think someone else has it. Your apps will need the new password once; everything else stays the same.
- We will never ask for your password. Anyone who does, by phone, email or message, is not us. Report suspicious messages to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
Errors that are not really login errors
Some messages look like login problems but have a different cause:
| Message | Real cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| "Playlist empty" or "0 channels" | Login accepted, but the list did not download | Reload the playlist; check storage space; try Xtream instead of M3U |
| "Trial expired" on a smart TV app | The player app's own trial, not your Wave plan | Activate the app on its developer's website |
| "Network error" on every app | The TV is offline or on a guest network | Check Wi-Fi; avoid guest networks that block streaming |
| "Stream not available" on one channel | That channel is temporarily down | Try again later; tell us the channel |
| "Server timeout" at a hotel or office | The network blocks the streaming port | Try your phone's hotspot; see VPN guide |
Renewals and logins: what changes and what does not
- Renewing early adds time to the end of your current plan; the login stays the same.
- Renewing after expiry reactivates the same login once payment arrives. Restart the app if it still shows "expired".
- Upgrading screens keeps the same login; the new limit applies straight away.
- Changing devices never needs a new login; install the player on the new device and sign in.
- A trial login is separate from a paid login. If you bought after a trial, make sure every device uses the paid details.
A step-by-step flowchart for any login problem
If you are not sure which message you are looking at, or the message is vague, follow these questions in order. Each one rules out a cause.
- Does any other app work on this device? Open YouTube. If it does not play, the device is offline: fix the network first.
- Does the login work on another device? Try your phone with the same details. If the phone works, the problem is on the TV (typing, app, network). If the phone fails too, move to step 3.
- Is your plan active? Check the end date in your order email. If it has ended, renew; the same login comes back to life.
- Are you using the paid login, not the trial one? If you bought after a trial, the paid details may be different.
- Is anyone else watching? Count every device playing right now, including phones and tablets.
- Is the server URL exactly right? Including
http://, the port and no trailing spaces. - Still failing? Message us your username, device, app and a photo of the error.
Five mistakes we see every week
1. Autocapitalised passwords
The Fire TV and Android keyboards capitalise the first letter of a field. A password of w4ve2026 becomes W4ve2026 and is rejected. Delete the first character and retype it in lower case.
2. The letter O and the number 0, the letter l and the number 1
Some fonts make these look identical. Copy and paste from our email where you can; if you must type, zoom in on the email first.
3. A missing port
Server addresses often end with a colon and a number. Without it, the app knocks on the wrong door and reports a connection or login error.
4. https instead of http
Type the address exactly as it appears in our email. Adding an "s" changes the address the app tries to reach.
5. An old profile left behind
After renewing or changing details, some people add a new profile but leave the old one as the default. The app keeps opening the old one and shows "expired". Delete the old profile.
What our support team checks when you message us
So you know what to expect, this is what happens on our side when you send a login problem:
- We confirm your account is active and see the end date.
- We check how many streams are currently open on the account.
- We confirm the server address you should be using.
- If needed, we reset the password and send the new one by email.
- We tell you exactly what to change on your device, step by step.
Most login issues are solved in one or two messages. To make it faster, include your username (never your password), the device, the app and a photo of the message.
Login problems in special situations
At a hotel, campus or office
These networks often block the ports streaming apps use. The app reports "cannot connect" even though your login is fine. Test with your phone's hotspot. If that works, the network is the cause.
Outside Canada
Your login is not tied to Canada, so it works abroad on most networks. Snowbirds and travellers: see our guide for watching Canadian TV abroad.
After a power cut
Routers sometimes come back slowly or on default settings. If every app shows "cannot connect" after a power cut, restart the router and then the TV.
After a TV or app update
An update can occasionally clear saved logins. Re-enter the details once; nothing changes on our side.
On a new device
Remember the new device counts toward your screen limit while it plays. If you are replacing an old TV, sign out of the old one or simply stop using it.
How to reset your password safely
- Message us from the email address or WhatsApp number on your order and ask for a password reset.
- We send the new password to the email on the account.
- Update the password in the player on each device you use.
- Any device you do not update stops working, which is useful if you think someone else had your old login.
Glossary of login terms
- Xtream Codes: a login made of a server URL, username and password, used by most IPTV players.
- M3U link: a single web address containing your channel list and login. Treat it like a password.
- Portal URL: the address used by MAG and some Formuler setups, tied to the box's MAC address.
- MAC address: a unique hardware ID for your TV or box. Smart TV players use it to send your playlist to the right TV.
- Device key: a short code some smart TV players show alongside the MAC address, used on the app's website.
- Screen / connection: one stream playing at a time on your account.
- Expiry date: the last day of your plan. Renewing extends it without changing the login.
Login questions answered
Can I change my username?
Usernames generally stay the same for the life of the account. If you have a good reason to change it, message us and we will see what is possible.
Why does it work on my phone but not my TV?
The account is fine; the TV side is the issue. Usually a typing mistake on the TV, a different app version, or the TV being on a guest Wi-Fi network that blocks streaming.
I renewed but it still says expired.
Close the app completely and reopen it. If it still says expired after the payment has been confirmed, message us your username.
Can I use my login on someone else's TV for an evening?
Yes, within your screen limit and as long as you sign out afterwards. Logging in on many outside devices over time is what gets accounts paused.
Smart TV activation versus your Wave IPTV account
This catches out more Samsung, LG and VIDAA owners than anything else, so it deserves its own explanation. On these televisions there are two separate things that can expire or need activating:
- Your Wave IPTV subscription, which gives you the channels. It has its own end date, shown in your order email.
- The player app's licence, for example IBO Player Pro or Smart IPTV. Many of these apps run free for a few days and then ask for a one-time activation fee, paid to the app's developer on their website, using your TV's MAC address.
When the app's trial ends, the app may show "expired", "device not activated" or "trial over", even though your Wave IPTV plan is perfectly active. The fix is on the app developer's website, not with us. When your Wave plan ends, the app usually shows "account expired" or "authorization failed", and renewing with us fixes it.
| Message mentions | Whose licence | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Device, MAC, activation, trial days left | The player app | Activate the app on its developer's website |
| Account, user, subscription, authorization | Your Wave IPTV plan | Check your plan date; renew or message us |
If you are unsure which one you are looking at, send us a photo of the screen. We will tell you in one reply.
Preventing login problems before they happen
- Save our email with your login details in a folder you can find, or take a screenshot on your phone.
- Set up each device using copy and paste or a phone keyboard app rather than the TV remote.
- Add a calendar reminder a week before your plan ends so you renew without interruption.
- Keep the player app updated, and restart your streaming device once a week.
- Keep your login inside your household, and choose enough screens for everyone who watches at once.
Follow those five habits and most people never see a login error again. When one does appear, the message is your clue, and this guide tells you what it means.
Still stuck? Here is the fastest route to a fix
Send us one WhatsApp message or email with your username (never your password), the device and app you are using, a photo of the exact error, and whether the same login works on your phone. With those four details we can check your account, see how many streams are open and tell you precisely what to change, usually in a single reply. Support runs 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern, seven days a week, and you can reach it from the support page.
One last reassurance: a login error almost never means anything is wrong with your money or your account history. In the vast majority of cases it is a single mistyped character, a plan that needs renewing, or one device too many playing at once, and each of those is fixed in a couple of minutes.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my IPTV say invalid when my details are correct?
Nine times out of ten one character is wrong: a capital letter, a missing port number in the server URL, or a space copied at the end. Copy and paste each field from our email rather than typing it.
How many devices can use one IPTV login?
You can install it on as many devices as you like. Your plan sets how many can play at the same moment, from 1 to 5 screens.
Does turning off the TV free up my connection?
Not always instantly. Some devices keep the stream open for a minute or two after the screen goes dark. Close the app properly, or wait a couple of minutes before starting on another device.
Will I lose my favourites if I re-enter my login?
Usually not, if you edit the existing profile. Deleting the profile and adding a new one can reset favourites in some apps.
Can I sign in from a hotel or abroad?
Yes, the login is not tied to a location. Some hotel networks block streaming ports, which shows up as "cannot connect" rather than "invalid".
What happens to my login when I renew?
Nothing changes. Renewal extends the same username and password, so every device keeps working.
Try it on your own TV first
