How to install IPTV on Android

Five steps, about three minutes. Android is the quickest device to set up because the player comes straight from the Play Store — nothing to sideload and no settings to change. Works the same on phones, tablets, Android TV sets and Android boxes. Have your Wave IPTV username, password and portal URL ready.

Before you start

  1. Find your activation email — you need the username, password and portal URL from it.
  2. Make sure the device is on Wi-Fi. The first channel-list download is large.
  3. Android 5.0 or newer. Almost anything from the last decade qualifies.
  1. Install the player from Google Play

Android is the easiest device to set up because the player is in the Play Store — there's no sideloading and no permissions to change.

Open Google Play Store, search for IPTV Smarters Pro, and install it. If your device is older or short on memory, Smarters Player Lite does the same job with a lighter interface.

Install from the Play Store, not from a link. The Play Store version is signed and scanned by Google. APK files passed around on forums are neither, and there's no way to tell what's inside one.
  2. Open it and choose Xtream Codes login

Launch the app and accept the user agreement. On the login screen choose Login with Xtream Codes API.

There's usually also a "load playlist file" option — ignore it. The Xtream method keeps live channels, films and series in separate sections and updates automatically when we add channels.

  3. Enter your Wave IPTV details

Four fields, all from your activation email:

Any nameA label for the profile — "Phone" or "Tablet" is fine.
UsernameFrom your Wave IPTV activation email.
PasswordCase-sensitive. Watch for your keyboard auto-capitalising the first letter.
URLThe portal address, including http:// and the port number if one is listed.

Tap Add User, then tap the profile you just created.

  4. Let the channel list download

The app pulls down your channels, films and series — usually about thirty seconds on Wi-Fi. It happens once; after this the app opens straight to your list.

When it finishes, open Live TV and play a channel to confirm everything works.

  5. Optional: send it to the big screen

If you installed this on a phone but want it on the television, you have two routes. On an Android TV or Google TV, install the same app directly from the Play Store on that device and enter the same login — no casting involved, and the picture is better.

Casting from a phone works but re-encodes the video, which costs quality and drains your battery. Installing on the TV itself is worth the extra two minutes.

If something goes wrong

These cover almost every problem people hit on this device. If yours isn't here, message support with the exact wording of any error on screen.

The app isn't in my Play Store

Usually an older Android version. IPTV Smarters Pro needs Android 5.0 or later; below that the Play Store hides it rather than showing an error.

On an Android TV box, check you're signed into the same Google account you use elsewhere — some boxes ship signed out, and the store shows a reduced catalogue.

Try searching Smarters Player Lite as well. It has lower requirements and works with the same login.

My login is rejected

Start with the password. It's case-sensitive, and Android keyboards capitalise the first character by default — that single detail accounts for most failed logins.

Then the URL: it needs the full portal address with http:// at the front and the port number if your email includes one. Copy and paste it rather than typing it.

Still failing? Message support with your username only and we'll check the subscription from our side.

The picture buffers on mobile data

Live 4K needs roughly 25 Mbps sustained, which most mobile connections can't hold reliably while moving. In the app's settings you can cap the stream quality — dropping to HD makes a big difference on cellular.

On Wi-Fi, get closer to the router or switch to the 5 GHz band if your router offers one. And if a VPN is running, turn it off and test again.

Can I use the same login on my phone and my TV?

You can install the app on as many devices as you like, but a standard subscription plays on one screen at a time. Start a stream on the TV while the phone is playing and the first one stops.

If two people need to watch different things simultaneously, that's what a multi-connection plan is for.

Do I have to set this up again after renewing?

No. Renewal extends the same credentials, so the app keeps working untouched. You'd only repeat this after a factory reset or on a new device.

Guides for other devices

One subscription works on all of them — the app is the only thing that changes.
